Omega Community Outreach

The Philanthropic Arm of Rho Alpha Chapter – Omega Community Outreach:

Omega Community Outreach, Inc. (OCO) is a 501c3 foundation that focuses on efforts to retrieve grants and other monetary contributions to provide scholarships for graduating high school seniors and undergraduate students who attain high academic excellence in the Alabama area. In addition, your contributions aid other community-based projects within OCO such as: TIES Youth Mentoring Program, College Prep, Dr. Charles R. Drew Blood Drive, Assault on Hunger Initiative, Angel Tree Initiative, Thanksgiving Basket Initiative and Toys for Tots. 

 OCO also partners with other nonprofit organizations, such as American Red Cross, American Cancer Society, The Salvation Army, Kingdom Covenant Connections and St. Jude to provide additional services and programs to the Greater Mobile community. 

 Omega Community Outreach also encompasses the Omega Lamplighters which is a collaborative effort between Rho Alpha Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and external community entities which supports the Fatherhood Initiative and Mentorship Program that will touch the lives of young men from all communities within the City of Mobile and surrounding areas.  

 This program is designed to focus on pertinent issues primarily facing young African -American males, including Self Esteem, Self-Image, Goal Setting, Health & Wellness, Personal, Social and Financial responsibility. It will also contribute to and enhance Academic Growth and Development, Family Unity and Conflict Resolution. These areas continue to be the most relevant issues facing our youth. 

To instill the principles of manhood, critical thinking, personal and social Responsibilities into young African American males and provide them with the tools necessary for self respect and community leadership. 

 Community, Omega Lamplighters is an organization dedicated to helping young men to develop their leadership skills to personally and professionally grow.  Thisorganization strives to produce active leaders and achievers in the community. Current members of Omega Lamplighters include standout athletes, schoolgovernment leaders, band members, scholars, etc.  The common bond between theyoung men in the program is to strive towards GREATNESS. 

The Rho Alpha Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. is a community service-based organization that has been servicing the Mobile Community since 1938.  Omega Community Outreach was established in 2014 as out philanthropic arm to further our community service by focusing on efforts to provide scholarships for graduating high school seniors & undergraduate students who attain high academic excellence.  Thus, the Omega Lamplighters program was established, and now serves as Rho Alpha Chapter plans to impact our community by encouraging and cultivating the development of young men in the areas of Leadership, Academics, Maturity and Perseverance.
